The healing effects of Ganoderma lucidum on intestinal ischemia-reperfusion damage in rats

Background/Aim: Intestinal ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) injury causes serious clinical problems and carries high morbidity mortality risks. Ganoderma lucidum (GL) is known as an anti-inflammatory immunomodulator antioxidant. This study aimed to investigate the curative effects of GL on intestinal I/R in rats. Methods: Twenty-four Wistar-Albino male rats were randomly divided into three groups. After 30/90 minutes I/R, hepatic tissue examples histologically examined. Biochemical analysis, serum, malondialdehyde (MDA), glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px), superoxide dismutase (SOD) levels measured. Results: The group had significantly elevated leukocyte, thrombocyte, MDA compared sham (P < 0.05). Serum, tissue, liver SOD lower than control In addition, GSH-Px measured serum group. However, use prevented these decreases due damage. Prior administration considerably alleviated histopathologic changes samples. Conclusions: Our experimental showed that led significant oxidative stress by inducing free oxygen radicals tissues. Serum MDA, SOD, useful laboratory parameters identifying stress. protective promising considering parameters.
